ScholarSlides

Privacy Policy

In short

ScholarSlides is a presentation app for Mac, iPhone and iPad. You do not need an account, and we run no server that processes your content. Your presentations and your keys stay on your device. The app sends content only when you use a feature, only what that task needs, and directly to the service you chose. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking; your content never comes to us.

Who we are

The app is developed and distributed by Hasan Bora Ulukapı (individual developer, Türkiye). Contact: support@scholarslides.app

What stays on your device

What leaves your device (only when you use a feature)

  1. The AI services you choose, with your own key: OpenRouter, OpenAI, Google (Gemini) and Anthropic (Claude). On the Mac you may also use your Claude subscription through Claude Code on your computer. What is sent is what the task needs: the topic and instructions, the text of the documents you added, images of PDF pages for analysis, the abstracts of the papers you selected, the public titles and abstracts of the papers found and the captions of their figures to sort them by relevance, style and reference images, and slide images for edits, checks or the editable PowerPoint. These services process the content under their own terms and privacy policies and bill you directly.
  2. Optional services: fal.ai, to separate pictures in the editable PowerPoint, only if you add a fal key (the slide image is sent). TypeSafe, to screen found papers and their figures for relevance, only if you add a TypeSafe key (the presentation’s topic and the papers’ public titles, abstracts and figure captions are sent).
  3. Literature search (“Find sources”): PubMed (US National Library of Medicine, NCBI) and Europe PMC (EMBL-EBI). A search query built from your topic is sent. For reference formatting, a paper’s DOI goes to Crossref. The figure details and figures of open-access papers come from Europe PMC and PubMed Central’s open-access dataset (Amazon S3); only the paper’s ID is part of those requests.
  4. Wi-Fi sync: between your own Mac and your iPhone or iPad, directly over your local network and encrypted (HTTPS with a certificate pinned when you pair). Your presentations, with the text you corrected by hand, move only between these devices; no server sits in between.
  5. Key transfer from Mac to iPhone or iPad: the QR code contains your keys. It is shown only on your Mac’s screen, read by your iPhone’s or iPad’s camera and never goes over the internet. Do not share it.
  6. Distribution: the app is distributed through Apple (App Store, TestFlight). Feedback and crash reports you choose to send in TestFlight reach us through Apple; Apple’s privacy policy also applies to them.

Case presentations and patient data

In a case presentation the app scans text and images on the device for patient data before anything is sent. A national ID number stops the send (Turkish TC numbers are checked today); phone numbers, e-mail addresses, exact dates, record numbers and name lines ask for your confirmation. The scan helps but does not guarantee anonymisation. Not sending identifiable patient data to AI services, and complying with laws such as GDPR, HIPAA or KVKK, is your responsibility.

What we do not do

We ask for no account, show no ads and use no analytics or tracking tools. We do not sell your data or build profiles. Your content and your keys never come to us.

Children

The app is meant for health professionals, academics and students; it is not directed at children under 16.

Your rights

Because we do not keep your content, you exercise your rights over the content you sent with the service you used. For information we may hold (e-mails you send us, TestFlight testers’ names and e-mail addresses), you can ask for access, correction or deletion at support@scholarslides.app (GDPR Articles 15–17; KVKK Article 11).

This website

scholarslides.app is hosted on Vercel. The site uses no cookies and no analytics. Vercel may keep standard server logs (IP address, time, requested page) for security and operations. E-mails to support@scholarslides.app reach us through an e-mail forwarding service (ImprovMX).

Changes

If we change this policy we update this page; the date at the top shows the last update.
